What is wildlife population control? And why it is essential to our biodiversity?
Wildlife population management refers to any strategy that seeks to maintain a target population at a level that can be supported by the ecosystem. This can involve protecting a threatened population from declining further in numbers, or even repopulating.
In populations where management does not occur, animal numbers will soon build to levels exceeding range carrying capacity resulting in habitat abuse, starvation, and death. A regulated harvest helps assure that there is plenty of food for the number of animals present on the range.
