Our Story

—35 years of heritage, passion
and dedication

The farm was bought in 1986 by our family. We have enjoyed the challenge of restoring Keta to its pristine habitat by eliminating alien plants, clearing bush encroachment and protecting the indigenous fauna and flora.

Terry McLintock has developed a number of dams on the farm, introduced animals that were long lost or eradicated from the area and indulged his passion for the trees, plants and birds. With the re-establishment and protection of the natural fauna and flora, many mammals, birds and reptiles previously unseen have now returned.

The reserve can now boast sightings of leopard, civet, serval, brown hyena and cape wild dog to mention but a few Klipspringer, mountain and southern reedbuck and sharps grysbok are some of the rare smaller mammals that are now regular sightings. Keta also boasts a large herd of cape buffalos that are flourishing in the wide diversity of Waterberg biosphere.

Our philosophy

Heritage and preservation of the African biodiversity for a brighter future has long been the core foundation of Keta Private Nature Reserve. The farm has been family owned since its inception in 1986 with a strong focus on protecting and restoring wildlife and the surrounding communities that depend on tourism & farming to survive and thrive.  Keta is a glimpse of what the future could hold if we look after our incredibly special African eco-systems & environments.

Our biodiversity

Keta has been beautifully restored with a large number of flora & fauna that previously lost on the lands due to invasive alien species. The reserve now boasts over 200 species of flora & fauna and in excess of 100 mammals and reptiles that are thriving in their new restorative habitat.

Challenges & opportunities

Wildlife & Nature conservation is arguably more challenging than ever before and will only become harder over the next decades. Keta and its hard-working staff are endlessly committed to preserving this wonderful ecosystem for generations to come.

Our impact on the planet

Keta is committed to becoming fully sustainable and circular and uses all of the natural resources it has on site to leave as small a footprint as possible. Solar power and natural springs are utilised to minimise emissions impact and the farm produces a number of its own vegetables, meats, jams and confectionaries which benefit the farm and  provides opportunity to the surrounding communities.
